The First Crocus

The first Crocus of the year opened today - 24th February.

The garden is full of ornaments and silly little things but they are so spread out and hidden that hopefully they don't overpower the plants and wildlife.

The Snopwdrops are reaching their peak but the snowflakes are still falling...

The Fieldfare

Mid-February and the fieldfare is still around eating our apples.  I wonder if he has lost his flock?

Fieldfares and Redwings

I cannot believe how long it is since I wrote a post on this blog but the only thing of note has been the snow this January and the number of bird species it has brought in.

All the usual birds were around and in addition there have been three new species for The Willows - Pied Wagtail; Fieldfare and Redwing.  The Fieldfares stayed on after the snow had melted.

Grey Squirrel

One of my birthday books was 'The Mammals of Cheshire'. For the last couple of weeks a Grey Squirrel has turned up for its peanuts to keep us amused though it is not recorded in this 2km square – I must send a record in.
