Sunrise in Gills Lane

It was bitterly cold when I went out this morning for a very early stroll to watch the sun rise down Gills Lane.

Well worth the effort, I felt.

The warm colours of the early morning sun made the hedgerows really golden and shiny.

Among the birds seen were a few Magpies and a lone Curlew that bubbled away as it rose in the air

This Wren was wonderfully camouflaged in the bushes but gave itself away by its loud and cheerful song.

Red sky in the morning

It was obvious over the top of the doctor's surgery that there was a good sunrise this morning.

It then becomes a race against time to get around to Gills Lane and Marlfield Lane for a photo before the sky changes too much.

This morning I managed it.

22nd January 2009

On sunny days like today I often go to the Co-op taking a detour along Marlfield Lane or Gills Lane to capture a hint of countryside.

The field alongside Marlfield Lane had a flock of Rooks and a lone Raven.
